When it comes to customization, both brands cover the basics and then some—things like:

From what I noticed, BioPouches seems to highlight their eco materials more in the customization process, especially if you want fully compostable bags. MTPak feels slightly more “classic” in terms of design options, but again, both will get your job done.
So in terms of features, it’s basically a tie.
Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ)
This is where the first clear difference shows up.

- MTPak MOQ: 15,000
For new brands, startups, small-batch roasters, or anyone trying new packaging designs, the lower MOQ from BioPouches can be a pretty big advantage. Ordering 10k instead of 15k can save money and reduce risk if you’re still testing your market.
If you’re a larger roastery and order big quantities anyway, the MOQ difference may not matter much. But for many small and medium businesses, BioPouches wins here.
Price Comparison
Price is always a factor, especially if you order packaging regularly.
After comparing quotes, BioPouches came out about 5% cheaper than MTPak. It’s not a huge gap, but over big orders, it definitely adds up.
For example:
- If you spend $2,000 on bags from MTPak, you might spend around $1,900 for something similar at BioPouches.
Both brands are still affordable in general. It’s not a “budget vs premium” comparison. It’s more like two fairly-priced companies, with BioPouches sitting just slightly lower.

This was one of the areas where I was honestly impressed with both companies.

Both are relatively fast, especially for custom packaging. But BioPouches is a bit faster on average. The difference isn’t dramatic, but if you’re on a tight production schedule, those extra days can matter.
Again, this isn’t a “winner vs loser” situation. Both deliver quickly—it’s just that BioPouches has a slightly tighter window.
Certifications
To keep things simple: both brands have all the major certifications you’d expect from a credible packaging supplier. That includes food safety certifications and environmental certifications depending on the material.
It’s always good to double-check based on your region, but overall both companies pass the quality test.
Which Is Better? My Honest Take
After talking to both brands and comparing them side by side, here’s how I see it:
Choose BioPouches if you want:
- More compostable + plant-based materials
- A slightly cheaper price
- Lower MOQ (10k)
- Slightly faster delivery
Choose MTPak if you want:
- Mainly recyclable packaging
- A very established, well-known supplier in the coffee space
- Standard, reliable customization options
Common strengths:
- Both are eco-friendly
- Both are affordable
- Both respond quickly
- Both have certifications
- Both deliver internationally
At The End
This isn’t one of those comparisons where one brand is “good” and the other is “bad.” Both BioPouches and MTPak are reputable companies that produce solid coffee bags. But depending on what matters to your brand, the small differences can help you choose.
If compostability, plant-based materials, and lower MOQs matter to you, BioPouches has the edge. If you’re already used to recyclable packaging and want something familiar, MTPak is still a strong option.
