It is always enterprising and encouraging to see Hotel chains contributing in more than one way to promote a destination, rather than the property itself. The Lalit Great Eastern is one such, whose motto is-‘We develop destinations and not just hotels’. The Tea Lounge is one of the best in Kolkata, where a wide range of handpicked flavours are served in a unique way.
In continuation to this tradition, to mark the essence of tea in India and to revive back tea culture in India, The Lalit Great Eastern organized ” Tea treasures” – one of the biggest tea festivals in Kolkata.
Dedicated to the tea lovers and connoisseurs and offering a platform to tea producers, tea marketers, tea shops, tea tourism operators and tea joints in the city, these 3 days brought all of them under 1 roof.
We managed to chat up with Mr. Rakesh Mitra, General manager – The Lalit Suri Hospitality group. He was happy and excited about the fact that this will help to bring forth the legacy of tea trading and sensitizing about tea auctions, tea tourism and significance of tea in the Indian market. We had the famous Makaibari tea estate being present with their wonderful range of tea flavours. Assam 1860 will revolutionize the tea scene in Kolkata soon, with a new approach at reaching out to people.
Tea and adda are quintessential with bengalis and Tea treausres was no different. The team of ‘Natoker Moton’ , an upcoming bengali film, was present for an adda session. Director Debesh Chattopadhyay along with actress Paoli Dam and actors Rajatabha Dutta and Saswata Chattopadhyay discussed the nuances of film in general and this movie in particular. This movie is predicted to be one of the most bold movies in recent times for its attempt to narrate one of the biggest disputes in Bengali group theatre ever. We shall eagerly await the release and success of the movie.
The Lalit Great Eastern Hotel itself is a heritage and the bakery was a jewel in the crown for Kolkata; its so encouraging to see them coming forward to promote and bring in together all the tea lovers of the city.
