I can foresee the air conditioners becoming a constant feature within a couple of weeks. And then will begin the long daunting and humid summer. Breakfast smoothies and afternoon milkshakes will literally take over our lives. Also, with covid still working and mutating, we do need immunity boosters. So here I am, sharing a terrific immunity booster orange carrot ginger smoothie. And trust me, it tastes fabulous.

Recently, I created 8 recipes with colourful food for Sananda Magazine. While discussing the brief, this one instantly came to my mind. With oranges and beautiful red or orange carrots, the smoothie will have a vibrant orange colour. We had done peanut butter banana smoothie before and which is pretty much our summer staple. If you have not tried our date and mango smoothie, then you must do so as soon as mango hits the market.

Ingredients For Orange Carrot Ginger Smoothie

Can you believe that this smoothie requires only 4 ingredients? Yes, you heard me right. Carrot, orange and ginger are the obvious ingredients. Plus we need ice cubes to make it a proper thick slushy kind of smoothie. In case you want more sweetness for the smoothie, you may need some honey. Nothing out of the ordinary, just simple and basic ingredients that are mostly there in your pantry.

What are the health benefits?

This orange carrot ginger smoothie is packed with nutrition. Fresh oranges are a big source of Vitamin C and carrots are full of vitamin A. They are known to be very good for the eyes. Both are good for fighting diseases and cleansing your system. I remember from my time at Urali Kanchan (a naturopathy farm in Pune), I was given carrot juice every morning for cleansing. Ginger on the other hand is a superfood and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. A little freshly grated ginger in your food does a lot of good for your health in the long run.

This smoothie does not contain any refined sugar. Just the natural sweetness of the carrot and oranges are fine. In case you need it, you can add a bit of honey, which is also good for your health. This orange carrot ginger smoothie is low on carbs and high in vitamins. It is really low calorie and filling and tastes delicious too. It does not contain any milk products and hence can be called ‘vegan’ if you are not adding honey. Another very healthy smoothie, especially during summer is a wood apple smoothie which is commonly known as bael panna.

Orange Carrot Ginger Smoothie

With only 3 to 4 ingredients, this is a brilliant low-calorie smoothie that is also delicious.

  • 1 medium-sized carrot about 1/3 rd cup chopped
  • 2 nos large oranges makes about 1 cup of juice
  • 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • honey as per taste optional


  • Chop the carrots into small pieces. Squeeze out the juice from the oranges and make sure you get some pulp as well.
  • In a blender, take all the ingredients and blend them into a smooth consistency.
  • Pour into glasses and serve.
